Credentials & background

I’m a licensed psychologist with over 25 years of experience working with adults in a variety of clinical settings. I earned my PhD in psychology from The Ohio State University in 1998 and have been licensed in both South Carolina and Texas, where I’ve spent much of my career helping people navigate life transitions, relationships, identity, and meaning.

Long before my formal training, two things were already taking shape. I carried with me a deeply nonjudgmental attitude toward people, rooted in my early life. And I found myself drawn to listening. Early in my career, I worked as a hair stylist—an experience that, perhaps unexpectedly, taught me a great deal about presence, trust, and the quiet courage it takes for people to share their lives. Those conversations, often unhurried and real, shaped the way I came to understand what it means to truly hear someone.

Over time, my professional training gave language and structure to what I had already begun to learn: that meaningful change often begins in a space where people feel safe enough to be known. Today, my work brings together both that early, human experience of listening and the depth of clinical training I’ve received over the years.
